Acclimatized activated sludge for enhanced phenolic wastewater treatment using pinewood biochar
نویسندگان
چکیده
Activated sludge acclimatization was assessed for pinewood biochar to study phenol biodegradation from synthetic effluents. The produced in a continuous pyrolysis system (auger reactor) at 525 °C and characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction, Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR), elemental analysis, particle size evaluation. Sludge greatly facilitated the rate, especially presence of biochar. Specific rates increased 0.0017 (g phenol/g VSS/h) as-received activated 0.0184 0.041 acclimatized without (control) with biochar, respectively pH ~6.5, concentration 250 mg/L room temperature (T = 15–18 °C). results furthermore demonstrated positive effects on microbial colonization growth. volatile suspended solids (VSS) 1 g/L 1.97 2.96 control volume index decreased 108 (mL/g MLSS) 60, while it 298 MLSS). studied showed high degree stability resistance load shock loading when initial 500 mg/L.

Effects of pistachio processing wastewater on treatment efficiency of urban wastewater using activated sludge process
Background: In this study, the effect of wastewater produced by pistachio processing in processing terminals on wastewater treatment plants with activated sludge process was investigated. Methods: The pilot of activated sludge was constructed at the laboratory scale similar to wastewater treatment plant in Kerman and it was investigated in different ratios of the wastewater of pistachio proces...
متن کاملBiological Treatment of Tannery Wastewater Using Activated Sludge Process
A study was conducted to evaluate the feasibility of Activated Sludge Process (ASP) for the treatment of tannery wastewater and to develop a simple design criteria under local conditions. A bench scale model comprising of an aeration tank and final clarifier was used for this purpose. The model was operated continuously for 267 days. Settled tannery wastewater was used as influent to the aerati...
متن کاملExperimental Comparison of Two Modifications of Activated Sludge for Treatment of Furfural-Containing Wastewater
A case study is presented in which two modifications of activated sludge treatment of complex chemical wastewater are experimentally compared: a combination of common activated sludge with powdered activated carbon treatment (PACT), and bioaugmentation of activated sludge treatment (BAST). Industrial wastewater of Pars Oil Refinery that was passed through an oil recovery stage was used to inve...
متن کاملTextile wastewater treatment: aerobic granular sludge vs activated sludge systems.
Textile effluents are characterised by high content of recalcitrant compounds and are often discharged (together with municipal wastewater to increase their treatability) into centralized wastewater treatment plants with a complex treatment scheme. This paper reports the results achieved adopting a granular sludge system (sequencing batch biofilter granular reactor - SBBGR) to treat mixed munic...
